Class Descriptions

--Silver Sneakers Senior Fitness--
Instructor: Cathy Gasparini

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance.  A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

--Body Basics--
Instructor: Laura Endres

Stop talking about getting in shape and start here! Body Basics provides a combination of toning, sculpting, no-impact cardio, and core exercises for a total-body workout. This class is specifically designed for beginners, but easily accommodates all levels by offering variations to increase (or lower) intensity. Come & learn how to use stability balls, resistance bands, free weights, benches and other equipment in a workout that targets all major muscle groups. Warm-up & stretching are included in every class.

--Step Interval--
Instructor: Laura Endres

A high-energy, moderate-impact cardio class on the step (risers).  The instructors lead participants through choreographed routines on the step, then incorporate several short strength training intervals that target major muscle groups.  Various equipment (free weights, stability balls, dyna-bands, etc) are used.  Abdominal work, warm-up, and stretching are included in every class.

Get ready to push yourself to your limit for short bursts of time.  Interval training takes a participant through a series of cardio and strength training exercises with relatively brief rest intervals.  Each interval will provide new challenges to help you improve your functionality, strength, and endurance.  Interval training is a great way to ramp up your typical cardio workout and increase metabolism.

--Tone & Sculpt--

Instructor: Beth Lowery

A low-impact class designed to tone and sculpt your body through a variety of challenging exercises utilizing various equipment (free weights, stability balls, dyna-bands, risers, etc).  Honing in on trouble spots and targeting all major muscle groups, this class is modified to challenge you at your fitness level.  Warm-up and stretching are included in every class.

--Stretch & Strengthen--
Instructor: Lisa Mayer

This low impact, half hour class will squash stress, aid in weight-loss, ease pain, help you stick to an exercise routine, and even improve your running times.  The focus is on strength and flexibility gained through yoga-based moves.

--Cardio Cross-Training--
(Saturday classes with alternating instructors)

Instructors teach their own class style on a rotating schedule.  Check the calendar by the front desk to find out which instructor and class style is scheduled for each Saturday.

--Body Blast--
Instructor: Lisa Mayer

Beginners Beware!  Body Blast is a challenging class that combines cardio intervals and strength training.  Using a variety of strengthening moves and bursts of high-intensity cardio drills, this full-body workout will help you burn calories and build muscle.  Warm-up and stretching are included in every class.

--Body Chisel--
Instructors: Lisa Mayer, Mindy Saunders

Body Chisel is a barbell class that strengthens your entire body.  This 60-minute work out challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls.  Certified instructors guide you through the choreography, inspiring you to get the results you came for.

Instructor: Laura Endres

A non-impact method focused on developing core strength, flexibility, and torso stability.  Strengthen the core muscles (the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back), build and maintain lean muscle mass, and realign posture utilizing slow, intentional, challenging movements.  All exercises are developed with modifications that can make Pilates safe and suitable for any level.

--Power Pilates--

Instructor: Laura Endres

Power Pilates is a 30 minute faster paced class and assumes participants have some Pilates experience.  Beginners should start with our regular Pilates class.

Instructor: John Mohr

Challenge yourself with an hour of J60XT!  This intense class combines Tabata cardio intervals, combination strength moves, and ab work for an hour of challenging and high-impact exercise.  This class is a bit different from our other classes - it will push you out of your comfort zone.  This is a great conditioning class for total body strength.
